Preserved trams in Kreischa, southeast of Dresden. From 1906 to 1977,
a tram line with 1000 mm gauge (Lockwitztalbahn) went from
Dresden-Niedersedlitz to here. The two tram cars appear to be of the
same type; the left one belongs to the Lockwitztalbahn, the right one
to the
Kirnitzschtalbahn, which took over several tramcars second hand
from the Lockwitztalbahn (No. 9 is still preserved there).

Preserved trams in Kreischa. It seems that the line from Niedersedlitz
to here had the number 31. The car on the right, in beige/green, has
the computer number 240 005-8, which seems a bit anachronistic, given
that all traces of this line have disappeared since long. 2001-08-19.

Kirnitzschtalbahn tram No. 4 with trailer No. 25 at Bad Schandau Stadtpark
before departure to Lichtenhainer Wasserfall. A second trailer is waiting
at the end of the track. At each end station, the power car must be
uncoupled from the trailer, drive around it and be coupled in front again.
Long ago, many bidirectional trams used to operate this way. One of many
specialities of the Kirnitzschtalbahn is that it has doors only on one
side, even though it goes in both direction, because access to the trams
is on the same side at all stations. Another one is that it's partly
powered by solar panels on the roof of the depot.

Lockwitztalbahn No. 9 in Lichtenhainer Wasserfall. The Lockwitztalbahn
was a tram line from Dresden-Niedersedlitz to the south; when it was
abandoned, the Kirnitzschtalbahn took over its rolling stock, and
preserved No. 9 in its original colours. 2001-04-30.
