Tram Dresden: The track between Pirnaischer Platz and Rathenauplatz is
currently being renewed. Here we see a Plasser & Theurer 08-275 ZW,
a small profile ballast tamper operated by the building company Hans
Wendel, work on the track near the stop Rathenauplatz. 2001-02-17.

Tram Dresden: Another view of the 08-275 ZW, showing the front end. You
can see how the tamping units reach under the sleepers to compress the
ballast. Rathenauplatz, 2001-02-17.

Tram Dresden: The other side of the 08-275 ZW stored after work next to
the building site of the new synagogue. As you can see from the arrow, you
are looking onto the rear end now. The unit is rolling on two wheelsets,
with three smaller wheelsets for measuring and precise adjustment of the
tamping unit. Rathenauplatz, 2001-02-17.

Tram Dresden: The 08-275 ZW was loaded on a truck after finishing works,
as the company Hans Wendel is not connected to the tram network, and
parked on a traffic island at Pirnischer Platz. Here you can perhaps get
a better view of the wheel arrangement (sorry for the bad
weather!) 2001-02-18.

Awwwh what a cute little ballast tamper! - It seems that not all
trackwork requires a big Plasser & Theurer engine; sometimes
a little machine like this is sufficient. This one is operated by
DGS (Dresdner Gleis- und Straßenbau), I saw it at
Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, which is currently the end point of line 13
due to works around the station Sachsenallee. When you live in
Dresden, you have to get used to all the building sites and
service interruptions. 2001-03-31.
