The doyen Class 50 2-10-0 poses for her portrait with preserved “Rheingold” coaches at Junkerath, May 1971. The special train, which ran with 50 001 from Koeln to Trier and then with Pacific 001 199 to Saarbrucken, was arranged as part of the BDEF convention for 1971.

Just out of workshops after a major overhaul, 053 091 hauls a special train through the closed station of Nonnweiler, on the freight-only line that then (May 1971) ran from Turkismeuhle to Trier. Today the line is out of use beyond Hermeskeil, to Trier.

The branch line from Aue to Wolfsgruen still had one scheduled return passenger train a day in 1992. 2-10-0 50 1849 hauls that service, which was ceased shortly after, past Bockau, on 24 February 1992.
