Rennsteig Bf. (Eisenach landkreis, Thuringen) Track layout in Rennsteig; two single-tracks come in from Ilmenau (right, in the background) and Themar via Schleusingen (left in the background), merge in the cross-switch then separate over the four tracks in Rennsteig station. Originally part of the stretches to Ilmenau and Schleusingen were cog-railway. They were converted to normal operation in 1927. Passenger service was suspended in 1998. In June 2014 a limited service was resumed, with four trains extending the Erfurt-Ilmenau line up to Rennsteig on saturdays, sundays and holidays. Andrea Pasqualini (a.pasqualini@alice.it) Aug.2014
