Former Pölzig narrow gauge station and historic freight car
Former station Pölzig of the Gera-Meuselwitz-Wuitzer Eisenbahn (GMWE), a 31 km long meter gauge railway that existed between 1901 and 1969. At Gera it was connected with the tram network. Pölzig was the only station located on the territory of Saxe-Altenburg; the other ones were located either in the Principality of Reuss-Gera or in Prussia. Today only few marks of this railway can be seen. Used for many years by a construction company, the building now houses a friends' association since 2010.
