Nossen railway station platform scenery Platform scenery at Nossen located on the Borsdorf–Coswig, Riesa–Nossen and Nossen–Moldava lines. Photo taken in 1997. At this time passenger service was still in use on the Borsdorf–Coswig and Riesa–Nossen lines, and even there were direct and fast RE connections towards Dresden Hbf (travel time 54 minutes). The narrow gauge railway was abandoned already in 1973. Photo taken in 1997. Today this part of the freight yard is much more overgrown (look for the 2014 photo!). Nossen railway station staff facility Staff facility (Sozialgebäude) on the grounds of the former 750-mm narrow gauge railway Freital-Potschappel–Wilsdruff–Nossen, in the area of the dismantled main tracks. On this route passenger rail officially discontinued on October 1, 1972, freight transport to Siebenlehn followed on December 3, 1973. As the building is supposed to have arisen immediately after disassembly of the tracks, it is assumed that it was built in 1975. The building contains five office rooms, two vanity areas, a boiler room and three storage rooms which are only accessible from the west side (gable end) via separate double-leaf steel doors. In the background is the former covered passenger platform, whose once open side was bricked and provided with windows. Freight shed on the right. Photo taken Sunday 11 November 2007. Nossen railway station, terminal building Old terminal building and platform shed of the station of Nossen, view towards east. It was the beginning of winter storm 'Daisy' which caused heavy snowfall on the evening and the fallowing weekend. Nossen is located on the second saxonian mainline linking Leipzig and Dresden. Long time ago it was an important hub with routes to Riesa, Freiberg-Moldova (Czech Republic) and Freital. Today the station is regulary only operated by regional trains consisting of class 642 DMUs, although there is a heritage association operating many steam locomotives for railfanning. Proposal for better train services between Nossen and Meißen, Nossen Comparison of existing government plans to close route 506 (left) and a proposal to provide better train service for more travellers (right) on a bulletin board in front of the station building.
