Deutz Bahnhof in Köln
Köln-Deutz, east of the Rhine. One of several platforms in the "Deutz" Bahnhof complex. There are S-Bahn platforms, Inter City rail platforms and U-Bahn platforms. This is the second-most important hub of Köln, next to the Hauptbahnhof. Taken Sunday 26 February 2006. © 2006 Josh Hanz (josh_hanz@hotmail.com) |

The station of Köln-Deutz seen on 29 June 2002. This is track 12, one of
the two tracks passing through under the rest of the station. The other is
track 11 on the left. While the other tracks run to the Hohenzollern bridge,
this part of the station allows trains to stay on the right side of the Rhine.
This is not much used by now, but in the future a lot of ICE's coming from
Düsseldorf and continuing to Frankfurt on the new highspeed line will stop
here. For this reason this part of the station is being rebuilt. The track next
to the edge on the bridge is track 1. Note the third rail, I think this is to
keep derailed trains on the track.

are used by the S-Bahn (urban trains), they are ascending east of the station
towards a bridge. Some parts of the Hohenzollern bridge carrying the line to
the main station are visible above the trees on the left. On the left in the
background is the famous Kölner Dom (gotic cathedral).

The western pedestrian tunnel in the station Köln Messe/Deutz seen
looking northwards on 27 March 2007. In the past small stores used about half of
the available space in the left, while most accesses to the tracks are located
on the right.
