The new station at the Köln Bonn Airport seen from the northern end on 12
October 2003. The two tracks coming out of the tunnel fork into four tracks
here. The inner tracks are intended for the S-Bahn (urban trains, platform
height 96 cm), the outer ones are for RE and ICE trains (platform height 76
cm). The walls between the inner and the outer tracks end where the platforms
begin. Signals and catenaries are still missing, it is planned to begin
scheduled operation in June 2004.
