The station of Horrem on the upgraded line Cologne-Düren
(<a href="http://www-users.rwth-aachen.de/christoph.schmitz2/strecke/strecke.html">ABS 4</a>)
seen on 1 August 2005. Track 7, which used to be a track for freight trains, is
being equipped with a temporary platform. It will be used on the weekend of 20
to 21 August 2005, when the final event of the
<a href="http://www.wjt2005.de">World Youth Day 2005</a> will take place some
kilometers south of Horrem. A lot of people are expected to arrive here by rail.
The temporary platform is mainly intended for special trains, as it is 400 m
long (the regular platforms are just 200 m long). The signal in the foreground
is a distant signal repeater, on the right is the platform of track 6.
