Dresden-Neustadt, 2001-02-07: view of the waiting hall. The
painted ceiling has been carefully restored according to old
plans and pictures.

Dresden-Neustadt, 2001-02-07: view of the waiting hall. The
"Reisezentrum" is a recent addition, holding the ticket counters
and a drugstore. Behind the windows you see the elevated tracks -
currently very dark, in a few years when the hall is rebuilt it
might look as bright as this.

Dresden-Neustadt, 2001-02-18: another view of the waiting hall, this time
looking south (the tracks are on the right). You can see almost all of the
glass ceiling in this picture - and in the middle of the hall the
ubiquitous globe-shaped clock which is not a very precise time indicator.

View from inside to the restored part of the hall of
Dresden-Neustadt. There is still a lot to do. December

Dresden-Neustadt, 2001-02-24. A look into the completed part of the hall. In the
background they are still working. You can see the yellow construction crane
on the platform between track 5 and 6, going right through the roof - when
everything else is done, the crane will be disassembled and the rest of the
roof completed.

The renovated part of the platform hall in Dresden-Neustadt.
On the left you see the neon sign "Dresden-Neustadt" carefully
wrapped in plastic, so it will probably remain. They are still
working on other parts of the hall. 2001-03-30.

Detail of the hall in Dresden-Neustadt being rebuilt. A crane is
standing on the platform and goes through a hole in the new roof.
When I took that photo, the building site was incredibly noisy.

Dresden-Neustadt: building on platform between track 5/6 and the
preserved/repaired neon sign from GDR times. The hall has been
completely restored, but the platforms are still low. 2001-06-25.

When the 52 8029-2 and the 01 1102 left the station
Dresden-Neustadt on 2001-05-01, they left a strange steamy atmosphere
behind. Back in the steam era, stations must have looked like this
quite often.

A model railway shop is located at the end of the tunnel.
