A signal of the
Hp
colour light system seen at Gerolstein (on Cologne-Trier) on 9 October 2005.
Obviously it has two green lights at the top, the left one seems to be for the
Hp1 aspect (proceed, only a green light), and the right one for the Hp2 aspect
(slow, green above yellow), located right above the yellow light (at the
bottom).

The old eastern exit signal of track 2 in Düren (on Cologne-Aachen) seen
on 5 July 2002. It belongs to the
Hp
colour light system. Behind it is a new signal of the
Ks
system that will replace it.

Some signals at the eastern ends of tracks 2 and 3 at Düren (on
Cologne-Aachen) seen on 12 July 2002. On the left is the old signal of track 2,
belonging to the
Hp
colour light system. The new
Ks
signal directly behind it will replace it. In the foreground is the new
signal at track 3, the old signal is visible behind the catenary mast at the
right.

Three interesting signals seen in Cologne on 1 November 2001. They are placed
at the western entrance of the Hohenzollern bridge. They seem to be distant
signal repeaters of the
Hp
colour light systemwith compact heads, mounted directly on the ground.
This is the only case of ground-mounted "main" signals (means: signals for
train movements, not for shunting) I know.

Exit signal P112 (track 12) showing Hp00 = stop for trains and shunting movements (nowadays a
single red light would have the same meaning). A blue and yellow "telephone box" stands in front,
with a mysterious symbol of unknown meaning.

View from the area of the former passenger station of Sindorf onto the upgraded
line Cologne-Düren
(ABS 4)
looking towards east on 15 July 2001. Visible is the exit signal, which looks
like an entrance signal since no shunting movements take place at this exit,
and several catenary masts.

A signal at the Hubertushof junction west of Düren (on Cologne-Aachen)
seen from a train passing eastbound on 27 April 2002. As there were
construction works going on, the train had to change to the left track. The
signal could not show the normal proceed aspect in this case, so the Zs1
(substitution signal) was given (yes, it was a Zs1, not a Zs8, that looks the
same except that the white lights are blinking).
