In the course of modernisation of the railway line from Kiel to Luebeck new automatic level crossing barriers were installed on two streets in the town of Preetz. Deutsche Bahn, however, had forgotten to apply for approval of the equipment used from the authorities before installation. Hence for many weeks railway workers had to manually install provisional barriers before each train passed. Two workers were scheduled to take care of the barriers at a main street.
