Two interesting locos photographed in Aachen West on 16 October 2001 (from the end of the platform, no chance to get closer). On the right is one of the two diesel locos of the Dürener Kreisbahn (DKB), but it is not possible to determine which one. I've never seen DKB locos in Aachen before. On the left is something in the old orange DR livery, I do not know which operator it belongs to. I guess both locos are there to operate work trains, there is a crane behind the DKB loco. One of the two diesel locos of the Dürener Kreisbahn (DKB) seen in Düren on 25 September 2001. Note that it also has an inscription of the track working company Kölngleis. As it is often to be seen at the construction works on the main line to Cologne, it seems likely that it is hired by Kölngleis. Even in the moment of the photo the parked loco is coupled to a train of hopper cars, which are used to transport ballast to the construction site. Digital photo by Christoph Schmitz

A new type DH 1004 loco of the Rurtalbahn is parked at Düren on 23 January 2006. There is neither a name nor a number visible, thus it is impossible to tell whether this is a completely "new" loco (these type of loco is built from underframes of old DB locos) or the repaired 6.306.1 (which was damaged badly in a shunting accident in October 2003).
