16 June 1996, station: Maulbronn Stadt, Germany
Diesel railcar VT 453 of the AVG (Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft), arriving from Mühlacker via Maulbronn West. The branch line Maulbronn West - Maulbronn Stadt is closed for regular passenger traffic. On this particular Sunday, however, this railcar worked a shuttle service (Maulbronn with its medieval monastery is popular for excursions) which was organized by the rail passenger organization PRO BAHN and the VCD (Verkehrsclub Deutschland, a pro-environment traffic user organization). VT 453 (built by Waggon Union in 1981, type NE 81) was originally VT 123 of the SWEG and taken over by the AVG in 1994 together with the lines Bruchsal - Menzingen / Bruchsal - Odenheim, where it usually operates. In 1998 the VT 453 and 454 crashed, they were damaged beyond repair so they were dismantled by the WEG, retaining usable spare parts for their NE81 fleet.
