Brohltal-Eisenbahn (Brohl - Engeln). O&K diesel locomotive
D3 in the depot. It has buffers and couplers for both narrow
and standard gauge rolling stock; the side buffers are in
asymmetric positions so that the locomotive can shunt standard
gauge cars on 3-rail track. 2001-06-05.

Brohltal-Eisenbahn diesel locomotive D5 at Brohl. Looking for a more powerful locomotive for heavy freight trains BE bought a locomotive type DHG 1200 BB built 1966 by Henschel for FEVE (Spain) as No. 1405. 883 kW, hydrodynamic transmission. It was rebuilt from 1998 to 2008, besides technical refurbishment it also received a redesign of the front end making it somewhat similar to a DB V160. The hydrodynamic brake allows going downhill without wearing down the brakes. 2017-08-27. |
