This building is located where the line Cologne-Frechen of the former
Köln-Frechen-Benzelrather Eisenbahn (KFBE) crosses the
Friedrich-Schmidt-Straße in the west of Cologne, at the northern edge of
the urban forest. Today this line belongs to the network of the Häfen und
Güterverkehr Köln (HGK), the level crossing is remote-controlled.
Note that the narrow path behind the building has a St. Andrew's Cross (meaning
"give way to trains") and a traffic light, too. Picture taken on 28 May 2006.

This is near the junction Köln-Lind, where the line of the former
Köln-Frechen-Benzelrather Eisenbahn (KFBE) meets the tram line 7 at the
southern edge of the urban forest, in the west of Cologne. The KFBE line, which
belongs to the network of the Häfen und Güterverkehr Köln (HGK)
now, crosses the Dürener Straße by a level crossing with full
barriers. The tram line, which runs along the Dürener Straße towards
the city centre, turns left in the picture. At the main signal it changes from
tram signalling rules to railway signalling rules, up to the station at Frechen
trams and freight trains share the same tracks. Line 7 is a low-floor line, thus
platforms allowing a stepless entrance can as well be passed by railway
vehicles (the trams are narrower than railway vehicles). Picture taken on 28 May
2006.
