Ochsenhausen railway station building
Station building of Ochsenhausen, located on the narrow gauge railway Warthausen–Ochsenhausen. This railway first came into existence in 1899, which in typical Swabian frugal style was built as a narrow gauge railway with a track gauge of 750 mm. The railway doesn’t showcase any spectacular feats of architecture but it does wind its way elegantly around the numerous hills and extends the journey time, much to the delight of its modern passengers. From 1964 passengers used cars for the journey, if they had one, but up until 1983 the Liebherr-fridge factory ensured the railway survived. In 1985 the railway was opened as a museum railway and since then the museum association and the neighbouring communities ensure that this living technical monument stays open to the public.
