This is the first electric train of the world, which ran in
1879 on an exhibition on a 300 m narrow gauge line.
Originally it was intended for a mine in Cottbus.
150 V DC from a central power rail, power 2.2 kW, speed 13 km/h
(6 km/h with three trailers and passengers). Built by Siemens
& Halske. A replica of this train is in Berlin, but this is
the original.

RhB Ge 6/6 411, built 1925 as one of 15 locomotives (delivered
1921 to 1929 by SLM/BBC/MFO) of the famous and powerful "crocodile"
type. After an accident in 2000 it was donated to the museum.

Electric locomotive De 2/2 1 of the Burgdorf-Thun-Bahn (today:
Regionalverkehr Mittelland), built 1899 as one of the first
big 3-phase locomotive, in service until 1932 when the system
was changed to standard 1-phase AC. This is the sister
locomotive of the De 2/2 2 in the Verkehrshaus Luzern.

420 002-8, end car of one of three pre-series units of class
420, built 1970. For the S-Bahn systems of München,
Stuttgart, Frankfurt and the Ruhr area, these EMU-3 with all
wheels powered (but no gangways between cars) were developed.
In München it was necessary to improve local transport
for the Olympic games of 1972. The trains for München
originally had a special blue/grey livery.

had orange-brown artificial-leather seats.

410 002-0, one of the power cars of the InterCity Experimental built
1985 by Thyssen-Henschel in Kassel. This predecessor of the ICE series
was mostly used for experimental runs at up to 406.9 km/h (in 1988 it
was the world's fastest wheel on rail train, until a TGV went even
faster just a year later). In 1994 the front ends were modified to
test the coupler of the ICE2, in 1998 the test train was retired. The
other power car is in Minden together with one of three middle cars,
the other two middle cars were scrapped.

Power 2020 kW, speed 120 km/h, mass 110.8 t.
Built 1927 by Krauss and Brown Boveri, originally
used for express trains on Bavarian lines, later
for local trains and moving rolling stock into
München Hbf, in service until 1974 (5.1 million km).

Electric locomotive LAG 1 built 1905 for the Localbahn
Actiengesellschaft (line Murnau - Oberammergau). The first
of five similar small electric locomotives that had a
very long life (later class E69/169), here restored to the
original state.

Bayerische Zugspitzbahn "mountain locomotive" No. 11, built 1930 by
AEG. Pure rack drive with three cogwheels. These locomotives were
used between Grainau and Schneefernerhaus/Zugspitzplatt until the
delivery of new EMUs in 1978.

train.

Bayerische Zugspitzbahn "valley locomotive" No. 3, built 1930 by
AEG. 224 kW, 50 km/h. The BZB consists of two sections, adhesion
from Garmisch to Grainau, cogwheel from Grainau to Zugspitzplatt
and Schneefernerhaus; originally the locomotives were changed in
Grainau. Today two locomotives (No. 1 and 4) are still in service
for shunting, No. 2 is plinthed in Partenkirchen.

The quarter train 275 625-2 is one of the prototypes of the "Stadtbahn"
class of S-Bahn Berlin, built 1927 by WUMAG Görlitz. Based on this
prototype 1268 cars were built, the backbone of Berlin's urban transport
for many years. Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum, München, 2012-12-04. |
Interior of the 275 625-2, probably modernized at some point: originally
they had wooden seats. Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum, München, 2012-12-04. |
485 017-8 (fragment). Class 270, later 485, was built 1990 to
1992 for the S-Bahn Berlin. Some of the trains went out of
service from 2003, others are still in service after some redesign.
