bridge at the beginning of the station are visible. The picture was taken from

and the northern siding. The track where the train is standing is still old, it
will be rebuilt later.

On the left the tracks for the S-Bahn (urban trains) are under construction. A
new station will be built near the bridge, the space for the platform between
the tracks is clearly visible. On the right where by now the old line runs the
highspeed tracks will be built.

On the right are the new tracks for the S-Bahn (urban trains), they will be
connected to the old line in the background. The highspeed tracks will use the
place of the old line under the bridge and continue north of the old line in
the background.

(ABS 4)
looking towards west from the street bridge near Merzenich on 20 April 2002. On
the right are the highspeed tracks. This curve is probably the reason for the
speed limit of 220 km/h in this area, note how much the tracks are canted. The
two distant signals at the gantry will announce the entrance signals of the new
overtaking station Merzenich. On the left between the tracks for the S-Bahn
(urban trains), a platform for a new station will be built.
