Upgraded line Cologne-Düren
(ABS 4),
view towards west from km 24.6 on 15 July 2001. The new overtaking station
Dorsfeld can be seen in the background. The northern highspeed track is
finished and is used for trains towards Düren, while the other is still
under construction. Trains to Cologne use the single track for the S-Bahn
(urban trains) which is on the left.

West end of the northern siding of the new overtaking station Dorsfeld on the
upgraded line Cologne-Düren
(ABS 4)
seen on 15 July 2001. The signal is an old block signal, not meant to cover a
switch. By now only the straight track is used, it requires to install new
signals before the siding can be used (of course this will be done in the near
future).

The new overtaking station Dorsfeld on the upgraded line Cologne-Düren
(ABS 4)
seen from the west end on 15 July 2001. From left to right there is the
northern siding (looks finished, but still unused), the straight track towards
Düren (in use), the straight track towards Cologne (finished in this area,
but still under construction in other areas), the southern siding (ties and
rails are lying there ready for assembly) and the single S-Bahn (urban trains)
track (at this time used for all trains towards Cologne).

View onto the section Buir of the upgraded line Cologne-Düren
(ABS 4)
from the street bridge at it's eastern end on 8 August 2001. The northern
highspeed track on the right and the track for the S-Bahn (urban trains) on the
left are in use at this time. The southern highspeed track in the middle is not
in use by now, so it's surface is a bit rusty. The entrance signals of the new
overtaking station Dorsfeld are visible, also some switches behind them.

the eastern exit signal (which can be seen on the right) and the switches
(their position can be recognized by the different catenary masts on the left).
