This is one of the model railway layouts which can be found in many German
stations since long ago. The landscape is a ready-made module by Noch, the
model railway is H0 scale (with the exotic Trix-Express 3-rail DC system).
If you insert money, you can run trains on this layout: the control handles
are labeled "Güterzug", "Personenzug", "D-Zug" and "TEE". The "TEE" has
been replaced by an ICE, the "D-Zug" is an adventurous consist of a steam
locomotive, TEE cars and automobile transporting cars, the "Personenzug"
is a double deck train with a class 216 locomotive and the "Güterzug" is a
class 211 with a few freight cars. Each train has an own circle and the
switches can't be changed, to make things foolproof. A Minitrix scale N
locomotive is supposed to go around the globe on top when the layout is in
operation (but here in Dresden Hbf, it seemed to be broken). 2001-04-19.

An attraction for children is this model railway at the station of Muenster.
Four different trains can be run from a control desk.
