DBAG historic electric locomotive E41 001 at the main station of Frankfurt/Main. This loco will be preserved in a museum in the future. For now, it is still in service, but in its original design (?) with the historic numberplates. Note the absence of DB-logos, in contrast to E10 121, for example. Here, E41 001 is ready to push a regional train, so it has the necessary remote control for push-pull operation. The "Deutsches Museum" in München has a model of a class 141 loco on display, also signed as E41 001, but painted green instead of blue. The real loco has been undoubtly repainted several times. To find out the correct colour is left as an exercise to the reader. Frankfurt/Main Hbf, Germany, 2000-06-10 Photo and scan: Klaus von der Heyde |

Train RB 6781 (Frankfurt Süd - Frankfurt Ost - Hanau Hbf) is headed by E 41 001 (141 001), newly restored to its original external appearance from 1956 when it was delivered as the first unit of the DB's unified electric locomotive scheme which also spawned the E 10.1 (110.1), E10.12 (112/113), E 40 (139/140) and E 50 (150). Despite its historic exterior, E 41 001 continues to be regularly used like any ordinary locomotie of class 141 (as the E 41 are called since 1968).

DB 602 003-6. Scharfenberg coupler with a special transition coupler to be connected to a locomotive (in this case the E41 001). Reportedly this had to be used often, whenever the gas turbine broke down. Koblenz-Lützel, 2020-10-03. |
