406 513-2 heads ICE 14 (Frankfurt-Bruxelles) passing Düren (on
Cologne-Aachen) on 23 February 2003. The northern track just west of the
station was reconstructed that day for a better alignment, so the train had to
use the left track to Langerwehe (the next station). The third unelectrified
track in the background is the branch line to Heimbach.

A multiple system ICE 3 (class 406) approaches Düren (on Cologne-Aachen)
as ICE 14 (Frankfurt-Bruxelles) on 14 March 2004. Generally the speed for ICE
trains on this line was raised to 250 km/h in December 2003, but in this curve
speed is restricted to 220 km/h. The S-Bahn (urban trains) station Merzenich on
the right is now in service for nearly one year.
