151 092-4 and 151 111-2 with a westbound ore train seen in the new overtaking
station Dorsfeld (on Cologne-Aachen) on 11 November 2001. Travelling on the
straight track, the train had to wait at the exit. Such trains are uncommon on
this line, coming via Cologne and crossing the border in Venlo, they normally
go via Grevenbroich. As the ore is transported from Rotterdam to the Saar area
and Austria, this train should be empty. Automatic couplers are used, as the
train can have up to 5400 tons when it is full, this can't be handled with
screw-link couplers.

it would make no sense to operate such trains on this line regulary, as they
could not be overtaken. As the ore is transported from Rotterdam to the Saar
area and Austria, this train should be empty. Automatic couplers are used, as
the train can have up to 5400 tons when it is full, this can't be handled with

This year two of four six-axled electric-loco classes are took out of service (classes 103 and 150). So I took this impression with for six-axled units just for fun in Oberhausen-Osterfeld on 13th of February 2003. There is 151 095, unidentified 151, 155 035 and 155 020 (from left to right).
A few month later I noticed that both class 151 in front shows something special: Automated couplers (not the common type for shunting purposes, which is compatible with the traditionally couplers). To indicate this fact to shunting-personal the triangle stickers are applied on the edges of the locos. What should be pulled by this locos? Have a search for "DBAG_6664346.jpg". Photo by Arnim v. The automatic coupler at the front end of 151 092-4, seen in the new overtaking
station Dorsfeld (on Cologne-Aachen) on 11 November 2001. These couplers are
used for ore trains with up to 5400 tons, where screw-link couplers are not
possible due to the high forces. The side buffers are not needed, but on the
locos they remained. The cars don't have any buffers. Also the locos have the
standard air hoses, the cars have them not, they use the air hoses integrated
in the coupler which are visible in the lower part. All vehicles with
automatic couplers have warning signs at the corners. Between the sign and the
buffer is a control connector used for multiple units. Behind 151 092-4 is 151
111-2. The heavy ore trains normally use another line, it's the first time i
saw one there.
