146 008-8 at the rear end of RE 10022 (Bielefeld-Aachen) stopping in Cologne on 22 September 2001. It is the first 146 in NRW (Nordrhein-Westfalen, a state in the west of Germany), used for the RE 1 line. The white inscriptions say "More force!", "More power!" and "More in-time!". If you compare it to the class 145, which was used on this line in the past, the first two statements are wrong, the power is the same (4200 kW) and the tractive effort should be the same (300 kN), too. The main differences are the bigger destination indicators and the higher topspeed (160 km/h to 140 km/h). There had been problems with the magnetic rail brakes on the cars, so they were not allowed to be used. When they can be used, the train can go with 160 km/h, so I hope the last statement will become true.
