101 135-2 waits in Aachen Hbf on 16 November 2001. On the sidewall, the number is given twice. Some pictures i found on the web show that this loco had a "More time for children" advertising in spring 2001, with the loco number written on the gray area. Such advertisings are often made of adhesive tape, so i guess the upper number together with the DB logo reappeared when the advertising was removed. Digital photo by Christoph Schmitz

Two Intercity trains meet in Köln Messe Deutz station, one with locomotive 101 139-4. Besides the ICE there are still a number of locomotive hauled daytime trains on routes not including high speed sections. Class 101 went into service from 1996 to replace the aging class 103. The first coach is an Apmz 119, a rare type built in the 1980s (first class open coach based on a second class type). 2013-08-01. tobias b köhler
