Dampflokfest 2001, Dresden-Altstadt, 2001-04-27

Diesel locomotive DR 120 338-9. This was the first class of diesel-electric locomotives imported from the CCCP, of a type very common throughout eastern Europe, to replace steam locomotives on mainline freight trains in the 1960s. Today the DBAG has no more locomotives of this type in service, but they continue to operate for private railways in Germany and numerous railways in other countries.
