216 156-0 and 216 131-3 are waiting at Cologne behind an unidentified ICE 3
unit that will run to Frankfurt as ICE 1063 on 1 November 2002. Six locos of
the class 216 are modified for rescuing broken down ICE's on the new highspeed
line. The three pairs are normally stored at three different locations along
the line. Note the yellow Scharfenberg coupler. I have no idea what the locos
did at Cologne that day. They were waiting when I arrived and departed some
minutes after the ICE.

The only thing spoiling this "historical scene" is the colour of the
locomotive! DBAG diesel locomotive class 216, non-rebuilt "Silberlinge"
coaches and mechanical signalling in the station of Gießen on
September 6th, 1998. The train in the picture is the local train for
the Vogelsbergbahn Gießen-Fulda.
