Windhoff Cargosprinters (container DMUs) class 690 in Knittelfeld, Austria. These prototype units, built 1997, were designed to be a modern, economic alternative for rail container transport without shunting delays, but all attempts to establish regular services were unsuccessful. Each unit consists of two 4-axle end power cars and three 2-axle middle cars. Between units, the Z-AK coupler allows both automatic coupling and combination with regular wagons.
