N.E.B. 56 80 81-80 002-7 Rheingold Domecar in Fürth(14.9.07)
Photo by Wolfgang Mauser (mauserw@t-online.de) |
56 80 81-90 004-1 ADmh 101, one of five dome cars built 1962/1965 for the DB. The current livery is supposed to represent the state of about 1970, but some details are not accurate: Only the first three cars, with 8 small windows in each row of the dome, had "Rheingold" inscriptions, the others were originally labeled "Deutsche Bundesbahn" there (later removed). The windows have been replaced, originally they had ventilation flaps. And originally only one of the small windows under the dome was an air intake for the air conditioning system, this was changed later for better ventilation. The left third of the car is a bar with tables, the section under the dome consists of air conditioning system, a baggage room (used in this train to store drinks) and originally a postal compartment with telephone booth (should now be used for storage too). The dome has been rebuilt to a smaller profile while working for "Apfelpfeil" in the 1970s/80s, including new lights along the sides. Right of the dome was originally a small train office compartment, now a wardrobe, followed by two six-seat compartments (same as Avmz 111) and a toilet. Near Selzthal, 2012-05-26. |

to EC/IC. 2001-06-04.

The space-saving double-deck kitchen in the WRmh 131 allowed a
rather spacious dining room with 16 tables and 48 seats as we
see it here. The loudspeakers were added later. This car was
part of the consist of the Rheingold 1962 and usually running
next to one of the dome-cars ADmh 101 (which were meanwhile sold
to several different owners and are currently operated by
Tågkompaniet in Sweden).

Interior of the lower part of the kitchen in the TEE dining-car
WRmh 131, with a gas stove. The double-deck kitchen consisting of
two small rooms connected with a lift was soon considered
impractical, which is why later dining-cars have a normal
single-deck kitchen again.

TEE dining-car WRmh131 in the "Rheinisches Industriebahnmuseum"
in Köln, where the FEK (Freundeskreis Eisenbahn Köln) is maintaining
historic rolling stock. Only five of this type were built in the early
1960s, they have a double-deck kitchen and a spacious 48-seat dining room.
After their original ivory and dark blue "Rheingold" livery, they were
repainted into TEE colours in the mid-1960s, keeping their DSG
inscriptions at first. They were retired in the 1970s. 2001-06-04.
