Disentis, Switzerland, August 2001. Disentis station, being the interchange between Rhaetische Bahn and Furka-Oberalp, has a lot of traffic and switching if compared to its dimension. Local trains end here from both directions. Glacier Expresses are the only through trains, but they have often to be splitted or combined as FO, being a steep rack railway, has to run shorter compositions than Rhb. The station has been rebuilt in 1998/9, with an underground passage, a new roof over the platforms (useful but very ugly) and longer passing track.
