The container crane of the Wengernalpbahn in Lauterbrunnen seen on 20 March
2002. All freight for Wengen has to be transported by railway from here on.
Note the rail hanging in the air under the crane. In this position it closes
the gap in the catenary, for crane operations it is turned up to the side. The
line to Wengen leaves the station to the right, then it turns around before it
starts to climb. So it is visible in the background again, ascending from right
to left. The best way to find it is to look for the bridge spanning the deep
cut above the right half of the crane.

The station Kleine Scheidegg, meeting point of the Wengernalpbahn and the
Jungfraubahn, seen from the station Eigerwand of the Jungfraubahn on 12 March
2002. At the bottom is the line to Grindelwald, on the left is the line to
Lauterbrunnen with a train visible near the bridge. The line to Jungfraujoch,
running to the left between them, is hidden by the mountain. Next to the line
to Lauterbrunnen is a track of the Jungfraubahn, leading to the train shed
below the station. Above the station the turning triangle, which is partially
situated in a tunnel, is visible. Every train has an "upper" and a "lower" end,
if it has to change from the Grindelwald side to the Lauterbrunnen side or vice
versa, it has to be turned.

The station Kleine Scheidegg, meeting point of the Wengernalpbahn and the
Jungfraubahn, seen from near the line to Jungfraujoch on 20 March 2002. The
line to Grindelwald is not visible. On the left is the line to Lauterbrunnen.
Next to it is a track of the Jungfraubahn, leading to the train shed below the
station. Between the shed and the line to Jungfraujoch the stage for the
Snowpenair Concert on 23 March is under construction. In the lower left corner
of the picture the end of a backbone span is visible. The line is
single-tracked, but it has a double catenary for the 3-phase electrification,
so masts with tensioning assemblies are placed on both sides. Above the left
part of the station the turning triangle, which is partially situated in a
tunnel, is visible. Every train has an "upper" and a "lower" end, if it has to
change from the Grindelwald side to the Lauterbrunnen side or vice versa, it
has to be turned.

The station Wengen of the Wengernalpbahn seen on 20 March 2002. There are four
tracks going through. Track 1 does not go through, it is just for train towards
Lauterbrunnen. It is located in the background where the train is standing
under the roof. Behind the new roof, the old station building is still present.
Not in the picture are the freight tracks, located on a lower level near the
exit to Lauterbrunnen. There is no road to Wengen, all goods have to be brought
here by train.

The station Wengernalp of the Wengernalpbahn seen from the station Jungfraujoch
of the Jungfraubahn on 12 March 2002. On the right the line runs to Kleine
Scheidegg. In the other direction the line towards Allmend and Wengen
disappears behind the mountain.
