Lowfloor articulated trailer 244 of the Wengernalpbahn arrives at Wengen,
coming up from Lauterbrunnen on 20 March 2002. It is pushed by a BDhe 4/4 power
car.

Freight car Hik 301 of the Wengernalpbahn is parked in Grund on 21 March 2002,
next to Hikt 302. These cars are normaly used to bring goods from Lauterbrunnen
up to Wengen, but in the week before the Snowpenair Concert at Kleine Scheidegg
on 23 March, a lot of freight was brought up to there from Grund. Note the
shaft running along under the car at this side and being connected to the shaft
under the next car. I noticed shafts like this on several cars. They seem to be
intended to transmit a turning movement through the train mechanicaly, but I
don't know which function is controlled this way, maybe a mechanical brake or
something.

next to Hik 301. These cars are normaly used to bring goods from Lauterbrunnen
up to Wengen, but in the week before the Snowpenair Concert at Kleine Scheidegg
on 23 March, a lot of freight was brought up to there from Grund. This car has
a cab from where the train is controlled when going uphill.

is open, showing some of the stage equipment that was transported. This car has
a cab from where the train is controlled when going uphill.

A flatcar of the Wengernalpbahn is parked in Grund on 21 March 2002. At this
end, which is allways facing downhill, it has to coupling systems. First there
is a central buffer with a hook, used to couple with older trains and most
other freight cars. An automatic coupler can be moved into position to couple
the car to the new BDhe 4/8 EMUs. It seems that the buffer is tilted upwards in
that case.

The freight cars 302 and 301 of the Wengernalpbahn are shunted in Grund by BDhe
4/4 power car 104 on 21 March 2002. These cars are normaly used to bring goods
from Lauterbrunnen up to Wengen, but in the week before the Snowpenair Concert
at Kleine Scheidegg on 23 March, a lot of freight was brought up to there from
Grund. On the Lauterbrunnen side the freight trains are normaly operated by the
new He 2/2 locomotives in the same blue livery as the cars, but all train I saw
on the Grindelwald side were moved by BDhe 4/4 power cars. 302 has a cab from
where the train is controlled when going uphill.

A freight train of the Wengernalpbahn on the way from Lauterbrunnen up to
Wengen, seen from a downgoing train entering the siding on 20 March 2002.
It is pushed by the He 2/2 locomotive 32 of which the pantograph and a part of
the roof is visible. There is no cab car, it seems that the driver sitting on
the flatcar has a remote control. The siding is located in a very steep
terrain, note the protection against falling rocks.

Freight car K 411 of the Wengernalpbahn at the rear end of a train to
Lauterbrunnen, seen in Wengen on 20 March 2002. As the old trainsets have no
space for the skis inside, a small freight car is used. Most of the cars are
smaller than this one, note that the ski holders do not use the full length.
Also the smaller cars usually do not have a handbrake like this one.

Detail of the freight car K 411 of the Wengernalpbahn seen in Wengen on 20
March 2002. A cogwheel for braking is at the axle next to the "lower" end. Next
to it are two drums on which the brake shoes work. I think the cogwheel and the
drums are not coupled with the axle, as the running wheels have a bigger
Diameter than the cogwheel.
