The 52 221 has recently been completed by Czech works ZOS Ceske Velenice. After WWII. the
engine was used by the Austrian Railways ÖBB and put aside as strategic reserve in
1975.
Sold in 1979 to a Swiss individual, it came to Vapeur Val-de-Travers (VVT) in 1992. The
overhaul began around 2000. Only financial support by a Swiss foundation allowed a complete
overhaul in the Czech Republic. The picture shows the engine on the day on which it was
taken over by VVT to be retransferred over some 1'200 km to Switzerland.
