A view of Brig on 13 November 2002

A view of Brig from an SBB / FS Inter City train. This is past the Lötschberg Tunnel, where the cantonal border between Bern and Valais would be somewhere in the middle. The train should arrive in Brig, in about five minutes or less. This train also goes to Domodossola and Milano in Italy.

Taken sometime in the late morning, on 13 November 2002.

Brig SBB station

The front of the Brig SBB train station. Brig is the largest city in the "Oberwallis" German-speaking section of the canton of Valais, while Sion (Setten in German) is the cantonal capital of Valais, and is in the French-speaking part of Valais, known as "Valais Romande". The station announcements are primarily in German, as opposed to French, Italian or English, which come after the German announcements. For those travelling eastward to Chur, this is the last station that a Eurail Pass or similar pass is accepted. Those travelling via Disentis / Muster on to Chur must buy a special ticket for the Gletscherbahn.
