CLASS 43 AT WORK: Locomotive 43 502.4 photographed shortly after arriving at Zimnitsa with a freight train from Karnobat to Dimitrovgrad. At the depot of Stara Zagora are based most of the earliest-delivered 43's with 43 502 being the second unit in the class (it was numbered 43 002 originally). Despite their respectable age (more than 30 years now) these locomotives handle almost entirely the freight traffic between Plovdiv and Burgas which is very intensive and includes some quite heavy trains. On that particular day (27 July 2005) locomotive 43 502 hauled a freight train from Dimitrovgrad to Karnobat in the morning (see photo above) and did the return trip in the afternoon.
