BDZ unique diesel-hydraulic lokomotive 04 012 stored at locomotive depot Sofia. Now in BDZ all the rest engines from this type are 04 012 and 04 025, but they are in very bad condition. 06.04.2005

04012 It is the last diesel locomotive of the type with hydraulic transmission. They have been delivered in Bulgaria in 1963 by the Austrian company called “SIMERING”. The picture is made on the 7th of December 1999 at Aldomorovtzi railway station. It is working now for depot Sofia. Photo and scan by Petko Ivanov (PetkoIvanov@chelmine.com) |
The first main line diesel locos of BDZ were built beween 1962 an 1965 by SGP Vienna (Austria) in two batches. This loco has two engines and diesel-hydraulic transmission. They are equiped with a steam boiler for train heating. The remaining locos are based at Sofia and mainly used between Sofia and Kalotina on international passenger trains to and from Yugoslavia. Loco 04.025-3 comes out of Sofia depot on 25th of april 1997 to take over the express train from Istanbul early in the morning.
