View on kilometre pole 40 of Line 50 (Brussel Noord - Gent Sint Pieters). The upper number 40 means that Schellebelle is located 40 km from Brussels, while the lower number 14 means that there are still 14 km to go to reach Gent. This model of pole (in concrete) is disappearing, most concrete poles have already been replaced by new poles with a plastic top and a metal pole.

Detail on a TBL-1+/ETCS-1 beacon. Although the name TBL-1+ suggests the system is based on or an update of TBL-1, it isn't related with TBL-1 at all. TBL-1+ actually uses the same beacons as ETCS-1 (Eurobalises), and supplements the existing Memor/Crocodile system in preventing signals passed at danger (SPAD) until all main corridors are equipped with the actual ETCS-1 system. View on a Belgian two-aspect mechanical signal of the 1931 type. Two-aspect and three-aspect signals of the 1931 type were very similar in design: two-aspect signals only had a red and a green lens, the third position being covered by a metal plate. On three-aspect signals, a yellow lens was fitted in the middle in place of the green one, which was then moved to the right. Leuven , 06/07/2006. Photo by : Denis Verheyden (msts_2@hotmail.com) |

NMBS-SNCB Signalling: The lines temporary reference speed is 40 km/h (green sign with white dots). Passenger trains may speed up, but it's still below the reference speed (HLV = passenger trains; white/green sign is the 20km/h that they may speed up. This is temporary because of the dots) of the track on the left (blue sign). Picture was taken in Dorinne-Durval on 24-08-2003
