Antwerp-Roosendaal line (L12), seen at the level-crossing with Grensstraat, which, as implied in its name, actually marks the Dutch-Belgian border at this stage.
Pic looks North, towards Roosendaal.
The siding further left extends into Dutch territory as its buffer is further away. Yet, it primarily accommodates Belgian traffic... Grensstraat (Gemeente Essen, BE; Nispen, Gemeente Roosendaal, NL) [Roosendaal Frontière]. 18th December 2005.

The changeover from SNCB/NMBS (Infrabel) to NS (Prorail) is well advertised.

L162 (Namur-Luxembourg), seen in the vicinity of Mirwart. At this stage, the route is very twisty, with lots of tight curves restricted to 80-90km/h.
The 16%o (1 in 60) gradient, down to Libramont, is well in evidence. Mirwart. 14th February 2006.

View on line 161 (Brussel Noord - Namur), looking towards Namur. If the EuroCapRail project was realised to its full extent, a Brussels - Luxembourg HSL would have been built, and stage 1 (Brussels - Rhisnes) would end roughly here. Now EuroCapRail only consists of upgrading the line speed of line 161 to 160 km/h, and where possible, upgrading sections of line 162 (Namur - Sterpenich (Frontière)) to 160 km/h. End of the line: view on the Prayon Rupel plant, where industrial line 270 (Ruisbroek Sauvegarde - Prayon Rupel) ends. If a train serving the plant wants to enter it the following procedure takes place: the train stops just ahead of the public road. The shunting worker accompanying the train will then open the gates (which are closed, but not locked, at least during daytime) and stop the traffic. The train will then cross the road and enter the plant. When it has entered the plant, the worker closes the gates and the train proceeds to the unloading facility and is unloaded. When the train returns to the station, the same procedure takes place, but in reverse order. Ruisbroek Prayon Rupel , 03/07/2007. Photo by : Denis Verheyden (msts_2@hotmail.com) |

The substation at the eastern end of the LGV 3 (new high-speed line between
Aachen and Liège) seen on 11 May 2008. As the old line (on the left,
junction of the two lines in the background) is electrified with 3 kV DC,
this is also the end of the section electrified with 25 kV 50 Hz. The
building on the right seems to be a signalbox, of course uncrewed and
remote-controlled.
