Works for the Metro Line 2 extension at Bruxelles-Ouest/Brussel-West. Once complete, Line 2 (currently Simonis-Clémenceau) will form a genuine Circle line.
One can spot the SNCB/NMBS "ghost" station on the Western Ring, which has never accommodated a single revenue passenger. Bruxelles-Ouest/Brussel-West. 23rd October 2005.

Lower platform Line 1 (A to Roi Baudouin/Koning Boudewijn and B to Erasme/Erasmus) in Arts-Loi/Kunst-Wet. The other side is the platform for Herrmann-Debroux and Stockel/Stokkel, respectively.
One level above is the Line 2 station, with the north platform going to Simonis and the south platform going to Clemenceau. (C) 2004 by Josh Hanz (josh_hanz@hotmail.com) |
Upper platform Line 2 in Arts-Loi/Kunst-Wet, waiting for a train for direction of Simonis. The other side is for trains to Clemenceau.
One level below is the Line 1 station, with the west platform going to either Roi Baudouin/Koning Boudewijn or Erasme/Erasmus via Beekkant where the train to Roi Baudouin/Koning Boudewijn or Erasme/Erasmus reverses direction, and the east platform going to either Herrmann-Debroux or Stockel/Stokkel. Brussels metros have an LED sign, where a train at a station is lit up so that it will be easy to predict when the next one will arrive. (C) 2004 by Josh Hanz (josh_hanz@hotmail.com) |

Inside a Brussels Metro 1A train to Herrmann-Debroux waiting the underground station Roi Baudouin / Koning Boudewijn.
The 1A branch between Roi Baudouin / Koning Boudewijn and Osseghem has traffic on the left and has central platforms. It changes directions at Beekkant where one can transfer to the 1B branch to Erasmus/Erasme, to continue to Herrman-Debroux, or up to Merode if one wanted to go towards Stockel/Stokkel with line 1B instead, and then transfer to line 1B. Inside the Brussels De Brouckčre transfer station, on a stepless escalator link between the line 1A/1B platforms and the underground tram line north-south axis commonly known as "Line 3" (which depending on the tram lines, goes from Gare du Nord / Noordstation to Albert).

Inside the Brussels De Brouckčre transfer station, at the end of the stepless escalator link between the line 1A/1B platforms and the underground tram line north-south axis commonly known as "Line 3" (which depending on the tram lines, goes from Gare du Nord / Noordstation to Albert). This is the entrance/exit to the tram lines. Note that the tram station has both a central platform, and two corresponding side platforms. The central platform is used for entry into the tram, and the side platforms are used for exiting form the tram. Hence the no-entry sign from the side platform and the corresponding upward escalator. People still somehow end up going down to the side platform, out of habit.

These central platforms have in recent years been converted from the original high-floor, when it was originally intended for there to be an actual Metro line 3, but it was decided to make use of the central platforms and use them for entry into the trams to avoid crowding (at least that is what I believe). Some stations like Bourse and Annessens still do not have these central platforms completed (although construction is nearing completion). Lemonnier due to its design as a "Y" cannot have these central platforms. (C) 2004 by Josh Hanz (josh_hanz@hotmail.com) |
This is Heysel / Heisel on line 1A. In stations with names that are different between French and Flemish, both names are shown. However when the names are spelt the same in French and Flemish, only one name is shown.
This underground station was created to replace a surface station of the same name. (C) 2004 by Josh Hanz (josh_hanz@hotmail.com) |
This is the terminus station Herrmann-Debroux on line 1A. This is the only underground station on the 1A branch other than Thieffry, before the transfer station Merode. The opposite platform is for alighting from trains coming from Koning Boudewijn / Roi Baudouin.

"Help ze" "Aides-vous". "Naar / vers Clemenceau". This is a braille sign that shows that this metro entry leads to the Metro line 2 platform towards Clemenceau via Arts-Loi/Kunst-Wet and Gare du Midi / Zuidstation.
