While 1602 waits at Aachen Hbf with D 411 (Oostende-Cologne) on 9 December
2002, it meets it's successor, a multiple system ICE 3 (class 406), which is
about to depart for a test run in Belgium as E 16014. Three ICE's per day and
direction between Frankfurt and Bruxelles will replace the loco-hauled trains
to Oostende from 15 December on.

NMBS/SNCB: Loco 1602 with EC 34 MEMLING on it’s way to Ostende. The picture is taken in Lontzen , between Aachen and Verviers. Since 14/12/1997 the silver “Memling” coaches were repleaced by German coaches. EC Memling has been replaced by a Thalys since 31/5/1998. In the background of the pictere the old Hammerbrücke is still visible. For the moment a new bridge is being built.

1602, again painted in the standard livery, approaches Sindorf (on
Cologne-Aachen) with D 419 (Oostende-Cologne) on 10 February 2002. This view
shows the three different pantographs: The raised wide AC pantograph in front,
the DC pantograph next to it and the narrow AC pantograph at the rear.

SNCB/NMBS, electric locomotive 1602, with a special "Maerklin"
livery, has just arrived Aachen station with EC 33 "Parsifal" (Paris Nord-
Köln) . The photo was taken on Saturday the 8th of June 1996.

Belgian dual voltage locomotive 1602 is passing the Hohenzollernbridge in
Koeln with an international train. The photo was taken on the 7th of

27/07/98 Brussel-Zuid NMBS line 50 electric loc 1602 (series 16 built by BN-ACEC) on the IC service Ostend->Cologne in grey-blue-red livery. This IC service was cancelled with the introduction of the Thalys link (Paris)-Brussels-Cologne. Visible on the picture are the reconstruction works on the high speed terminal.
