Most of the locomotives within the Class 59 series were withdrawn from
services during 1988. However, about 10 members of the class have since
been brought back into service as a result of the work involved with
building the High Speed line between Northern France and Belgium. The
accompanying picture shows locomotive 5950 at the HST-base at Coucou
along with 5946 which still carries the older green livery.

SNCB 5936 at Ans with an engineering train during the building of the Belgian HSL-2 Liege-Leuven. It was the last duty for Belgian Reeks 59, that would have been out of service in 1989. SNCF hired the already decommissioned locos (which had to be recommissioned) when building their High Speed Line Paris-Antoign-Brussels. After that was done, NMBS/SNCB followed the French vogue and used these loco's for engineering trains of their own. TSP/PTF is a Belgian railway museum society with houses most of their collection in Saint-Ghislain (on Mons-Tournai) at a disused NMBS/SNCB shed. Each European heritage weekend (2nd full weekend in September) TSP open their doors at Saint-Ghislain. One of their locos is 5941 and remarkable of this engine is, that on one cab, it wears single headlights, on the other double headlights. Cette livrée fut en vigueur de 1954 aux années 1960. La photo est prise à

NMBS De museumlok 201.010 in de livrei met de drie spitsen ster. Deze livrei was tussen 1954 en de jaren 1960 opgelegd. De lok was in Brussel-Zuid naar aanleiding van de 75 jaren van de NMBS gefotografeerd. (06/05/2001) SNCB Die Museumlok 201.010 in der Lackierung mit dem drei Spitze Stern. Diese Lackierung wird zwischen 1954 und die Jahren 1960 aufgelegt. Die Lok war in Brüssel (Bruxelles-Midi) gelegentlich die 75 Jahren von die SNCB fotografiert (6 Mai 2001) SNCB The museum locomotive 201.010 in the livrery with the three points star. Diesel locomotive 5922, now owned by the Vennbahn, is on its way to
Trois-Ponts, where it will assist steam locomotive 50 3666 with hauling the
long passenger train from Trois-Ponts back to Eupen.
