Unit 5404 is the only Belgian NOHAB unit in the original state, that is
still active. The unit is predestinated to end in a museum, but because of
shortage of diesel units, it is still in use for haulage of freighttrains
in the south of Belgium. Occasionally, the unit is used for haulage of
special trains, which is the case here, as you see the unit here with a
special train in Duffel station on june 2, 1996.
At that date the new Thalys trainsets started official duty,
and replaced the hauled international trains in Belgium.

SNCB - Voici l'état pitoyable dans lequel se trouvait la locomotive historique

This picture shows the last EuroCity train "Etoile du Nord" just south of
Dordrecht in The Netherlands. The locomotive is a Belgian museum locomotive
with the number 204.004, which was built in 1955 after a NOHAB design. The coaches are old TEE stainless steel INOX coaches of the French and Belgian railways. The day after the photo was taken (1 June 1996) all locomotive-hauled trains between Amsterdam and Paris were replaced by Thalys high-speed trainsets. The coaches will now probably be used for the trains between Liège/Luik and Paris, or even between Frankfurt/M and Paris.
