Wien has the greatest tram museum of the world. This is hall I of the former depot of Erdberg; only the tracks 1/2 are open to the public (where E6/c6 rolling stock of the U6 line can be seen), the tracks 3 to 6 are used as a workshop for museum rolling stock. The collection was founded in 1966, after six years of restoration work the first museum was opened in the depot of Ottakring. In 1986 it was moved to the depot Erdberg which was still in regular use at the time; since 1992 the whole depot is used as museum, so there is plenty of space for the 108 tramway vehicles, including many operational units.
