In 1994, the Brunel Award for outstanding visual design
in railway transportation, was given to the pedestrian
underpass of Graz Hbf for its "systematic accessibility
for disabled persons". Nevertheless, it is currently
inaccessible for anyone in a wheelchair because the
main access from the hall is closed for rebuilding.

Graz Hbf, new station sign above the existing screens for
departures and train compositions. It would be good if these
screens were replaced by something that has a better
contrast in the sunlight, as they are often hard to read.

The northern pedestrian tunnel of Graz Hbf still looks
rather old. The wall on the right has been painted by a
primary school, and the whole underpass has a lot of
graffiti. 2002-09-15.

Graz Hbf, escalator from the waiting hall to the underpass.
On the left you can see an elevator and, next to it, a brick
wall. There it is planned to extend the underpass into a shopping
mall on the other side of the street - some time in the future.

a guidance system for blind and partially-sighted people and
escalators and elevators for all platforms, received a Brunel
Award for outstanding design in railway transportation. The rest
of the station is currently not very attractive, due to heavy
rebuilding works. 2001-11-17.
