898.01 is another wartime engine which remained at the ÖBB narrow gauge network. Built 1941 by Henschel it was preferably used as a yardshunter at the Mariazellerbahn in St.Pölten. It was later purchased by the Gurktalbahn in Carinthia and after overhaul it's now back in service on the short preserved line which was the first railway in Austria to be operated by volunteers. This picture shows 898.01 with train in Pöckstein-Zwischenwässern, now the northern terminus and center of operation.
