Entrance of the Semmering tunnels near the station Semmering.
The old tunnel built 1854 is 1433 m long, the entrance on the
right is partly hidden. Originally it was double track. The
new tunnel built 1952 is 1511 m long, the entrance is on the
left. Until 1953 the old tunnel was renovated and rebuilt to
single track, in preparation of the electrification which was
completed 1959. 2026-05-17.
