Bregenz Hauptbahnhof

Bregenz is the Landeshauptstadt (state capital) of the Austrian state of Voralberg, and is the only Austrian State Capital that is close to the German and Swiss borders. This is where many trains from Germany, Switzerland and Austria intersect. Trains from Germany to most destinations in Austria, if they do not call at Feldkirch, stop here for a transfer. There is also an S-Bahn-like local train service stopping everywhere from Lindau in Germany, to Feldkirch, including Buchs in Switzerland and Schaan-Vaduz in Liechtenstein. Behind the sign is an electric ÖBB train, series 1044 087-3 to Lindau where it will be replaced with either a German electric locomotive or a series DB 218 Diesel locomotive.

Taken 4 July 1997. In Zürich it was raining heavily that day but in Bregenz only the clouds were over the mountain and there was a light drizzle at most. I am standing outside the EC 92 Angelika Kaufmann from Munich to Zürich, Switzerland.
