Most trains on the line Graz - Fehring are pulled (and sometimes pushed) by class 2016 nowadays, but occasionally the 2143 can still be seen (and heard). This is train 4716 Graz - Fehring, pulled by the 2143 044-2, shortly before entering the tunnel at Lassnitzhöhe on 2005-04-22. The station "Lassnitzhöhe" is at the other end of the tunnel.

Occasionally, plans of doubletracking the section Graz - Gleisdorf are discussed, to improve commuter train frequency. While there is enough space for a second track, this would require a second bridge across the Mur in Graz and a second tunnel at Lassnitzhöhe. This tunnel would proabably also be the biggest obstacle to an electrification of this line.
