Two labels underneath the central entrance of withdrawn former 1st/2nd class ÖBB Mitteleinstiegswagen Bmpz 50 81 20-34 200-3 tell us a bit about the history of this car:
It was built (as the first of its series) by ÖBB-Hauptwerkstätte (main workshop) St. Pölten in 1962 with serial number 1371 and originally had the class number 22720 (crossed out meanwhile). In 1968 it was replaced by the UIC number 50 81 30-04 000-?. After a brake upgrade (between 1971 and 1974) it was approved for 140 km/h, and therefore the number was changed anew to 50 81 30-34 000-5, which can (partially) still be read on the label. When finally the 1st class part was downgraded to 2nd class (probably in the early 1990s), it got its last number 50 81 20-34 200-3.
